If you’re looking for something unique and educational to give this gifting season, here a few financially focused ideas:

  • Stock Shares – allows you to purchase one share of stock from well-known companies such as Disney, Apple, Coke, and many others. They offer framing and labeling options so you can personalize your gift.

  • Piggy Banks – Always a timeless gift, piggy banks are great for kids or grandkids to reinforce the value of saving. Add some spare change to help get them started.

  • Charitable Giving – Make a donation to a charitable cause the gift recipient is passionate about. Alternatively, teach the importance of charitable giving when gifting cash. For example, if you are planning on giving someone $15, request that they save $5, spend $5, and donate $5.

  • State Quarter Collection Folder – From 1999-2009 state quarters were minted to honor all 50 states and it made collecting coins cool. You can purchase a “collection folder” at stores like Barnes and Noble or Target as well as online. This gift is a great option for the collector on your list.

  • Savings Accounts/Investment Accounts – It’s never too early and you’re never too young to start your first savings or investment account. A trip to your local bank with your children or grandchildren can be a great experience and opportunity to learn about banking, savings accounts, and investing.
