Milwaukee Wis. (November 11, 2016)—In honor of Veteran’s Day, Bank Mutual and its employees gave back and gave thanks to all who served and are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. In an adaptation of the organization’s Jeans for a Cause Day, employees were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue (jeans) to work on Friday, November 11, while Bank Mutual made a donation on their behalf to Homes for Our Troops (HFOT).

HFOT is a privately funded nonprofit organization that builds mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post – 9/11, enabling them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to the program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home construction is completed to assist them with rebuilding their lives.

Bank Mutual is honored to support HFOT by providing a donation to two Wisconsin veterans, Russell Dennison and Kevin Hanrahan, who currently have specially adapted homes under construction and are working to rebuild a more independent life.

Bank Mutual launched its Jeans for a Cause program in effort to spread awareness and support local, regional, and national non-profit organizations. In its typical format, the program gives employees the opportunity to wear jeans to work in exchange for a minimum $5 donation to a selected non-profit organization. Various non-profit organizations are featured throughout the year and Bank Mutual encourages employees to get involved by recommending events, charities, or causes they believe the collected proceeds should benefit.

Bank Mutual Corporation is traded on The NASDAQ Global Select MarketSM under the symbol “BKMU.” Bank Mutual is the third largest bank headquartered in Wisconsin, with assets at September 30, 2016 of $2.7 billion.
