Bank Mutual was pleased to host a group young women from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee at the Wisconsin State Fair on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Asha Dewan, Eleanor Henderson, Jessica Akright, Katrin Sticha, and Melinda Toy spent time touring with the girls and providing mentorship over lunch.

The event included a behind the scenes look at some of the most notable Wisconsin State Fair attractions, including a guided tour of the Cream Puff Bakery that operates in the Original Cream Puff Pavilion, producing and selling nearly 400,000 cream puffs in a fair season. The tour also provided a glimpse into the planning process for the large event and corresponding career opportunities.

Following the tour, the group enjoyed lunch at Slim McGinn’s, while talking with female Bank Mutual staff members about their college plans, personal interests, and future goals.

The event was donated as part of The Boys & Girls Club Year of the GIRL Celebration last fall where the Club held an auction from which attendees could bid on “opportunities”. Instead of a traditional silent auction, opportunities were bid on that exposed young girls to various educational and professional environments. These were then granted to groups of girls between the ages of 15-18 by generous donors who attended the fundraising event.

David A. Baumgarten, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank Mutual stated, “As a member of the Board of Trustees for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, I was again honored that Bank Mutual is able to partner with the organization. We are committed to helping our friends and neighbors reach important milestones in their lives and programs such as those created by the Boys and Girls Club are vital to strengthening our communities.”
